Deployment
History
The team started work on this years air show weeks in
advance. However, Wednesday evening the 18th saw the first
real action as members met at the VA to sort and pack supplies and gear
that would be needed.
Friday, team members gathered at the VA to transport equipment
and supplies to the Dayton International Airport. Once at the airport
members setup a Base of Operations (BOO) and left the site around 5:30
PM to miss the Air Show Parade which was about to start.
Saturday, the team saw 9 patients during the afternoon,
most having ill effects of sun exposure and the high temperatures.
Lunch was an excellent cook-out provided by Chuck and his able logistics
crew.

Communications Specialist Bob and Dave check over some
of our commo equipment. The Commo folk had HF multiband, VHF, Cellular,
Satellite systems, AirBand, and SpreadSpectrum intercom phones in operations.

The medical tent was busy by mid-afternoon Saturday with
two of the seven patients being transported to local hospitals.

One of several patients effected by the heat being escorted
to the Medical Tent from the Reception Tent.

Above is one of about 5 patients that were trasported
out of the DMAT compound to regional hospitals during the weekend, the
nearest of which had to reroute to other hospitals for a time. Sunday
saw an additional 8 to 9 patients come through the DMAT medical compound.

Paperwork was also an ongoing task, whether it was checking
in patients, checking out radios, or checking ones self out to go see the
show for a while.
