Activity History

The 2005 National Disaster Medical System Conference was held this May in Orlando, FL, included an awards ceremony honoring local Dayton area residents.  The Dayton-based FEMA Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT OH-5) received Outstanding Achievement Awards for their responses to provide Disaster Medical Care following Hurricanes Frances, Ivan and Jeanne.  The team was also recognized for its special work in support of the Republican National Convention, a designated National Special Security Event. 

Session of all types were offered. Communications had a full 5 day training this year. Below is a photo of  field satellite training.



Sandra was also recognized with a Distinguished Member of the Year Award, an honor bestowed by fellow members of her team.  Sandra was instrmental in organizing our medical load this year and put in many days of work.


 “Sandy led our efforts this year to organize our medical equipment for an efficient response,” said the team’s Commander.  “This is the kind of behind the scenes work that few ever see, but it made a major contribution toward our team readiness this year.”
